Your data, plainly explained

What we store

To be a useful study tutor, Syndal keeps the things you put into it and the work it does for you:

• Your account. Name, email, school, year, subjects, and exam dates — what we need to scope the syllabus and run your study plan.
• Your materials. The notes, slides, handouts, past papers, photos, and scans you upload. These are parsed and indexed so Spark can cite the exact slide or page — they power the grounding, nothing else.
• Your study activity. Chats with Spark, practice attempts, decks, and progress — so the tutor remembers your weak spots and picks up where you left off.
• Basic usage signals. Active days, time studied, and sets completed — used to show progress and keep the product working, never to build an advertising profile.

Data is stored and processed in Australia. We hold it only as long as you keep your account; delete your account and we remove your materials and study data.

What a parent can see

The student owns the account. A parent gets an automatic view — and it's deliberately limited. A parent sees that the student studies and how they're tracking: active days, time studied, readiness against their target, topics covered, and score trend.

A parent never sees the student's raw chats, answers, or drafts. The student doesn't curate this view either — progress is computed from real study, so it stays honest, but it's progress only, never the words behind it.

We never sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal information, your materials, or your study activity to anyone — full stop. We don't run ads, and we don't share your work with other students.

We use a small set of trusted service providers to actually run Syndal — hosting, the AI models that power Spark, payments, and the email/SMS that send study nudges. They only ever process the minimum needed to do their job, on our instructions, and they aren't allowed to use your data for their own purposes. Your study content is never used to train models for anyone else.

Your choices

You can access or export your data, correct your details, and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes your materials and study data; billing is handled separately — cancel anytime in two clicks, with an instant refund of the current period.
