Plain-English terms

Terms of use

The deal in plain words — how the tool works, how billing runs, and how easy it is to walk away. No fine print, no traps.

1. The short version

This page is the plain-English summary of the deal between you and Syndal. It’s written to be read, not buried — if anything here feels unfair, tell us at [email protected].

By creating an account or using Syndal, you agree to these terms. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian should be across them too — the student owns the account, and the parent pays.

2. Using Syndal

Syndal is a study tool: it grounds answers in your own materials, turns them into practice and flashcards, and helps you plan what to study next. It’s built to coach you toward the answer — not to do your assignments for you.

You keep ownership of everything you upload — your notes, papers, and work stay yours. You grant us permission to process that material so the product can do its job (parse it, index it, and ground Spark’s answers in it). We don’t sell your work or use it to train third-party models.

3. Acceptable use — no cheating

Syndal is a coach, not a homework-answer machine. Don’t use it to pass off generated work as your own, breach your school’s or exam board’s assessment rules, or claim AI-written answers as original work. The product is designed to guide rather than ghost-write — keep it that way.

Don’t abuse the service either: no attempts to break, overload, or reverse-engineer it, no uploading content you don’t have the right to, and no using it to harm others. We may suspend accounts that do.

4. Billing, trial, and refunds

The free plan stays free. Premium is $39 per month (AUD), billed by the parent through Stripe. It starts with a 7-day free trial — you won’t be charged until the trial ends, and we’ll make the renewal date clear before it does.

Cancel anytime, in two clicks from the Stripe customer portal — no phone call, no retention maze. If you cancel a paid month, we refund the current period immediately; you never pay for time you didn’t want. There’s never a surprise charge to the student — the parent holds the billing.

5. AI guidance is not a guarantee

Syndal’s answers, practice, and study suggestions are AI-generated study guidance. They can help you improve, but they’re not official advice and don’t predict your actual exam result. Use them as a study signal, not a promise.

6. Liability

We work hard to keep Syndal accurate and available, but it’s provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

We may update these terms as the product grows; we’ll post the new version here and update the date below. If a change matters to your billing, we’ll tell you before it takes effect.
